Love and Money

 Thursday, December 16, 2010

Here we are on a quick little trip over to Palm Springs. Yes. It is December.  This is one great thing to L.O.V.E. about California.

And now to the money.  Lily has an obsession with my wallet.  Here is how I discovered her.  Oh boy.  Daddy better be prepared for this little girl's teenage years.

Granted the flower is ridiculous without a headband, but I still like it. By the way, Lily still has blue-ish hazel colored eyes.  Strange because Adam and I have such dark brown eyes. We'll see if it lasts.

Look Ma!

 Monday, November 29, 2010

So my sister has recently introduced me to the world of craft blogs! Just ask Adam, I am hooked on all the cute things these super creative women do in their homes.  I am constantly going to the craft stores and looking around, convincing Adam I NEED this or that and daydreaming about what I want to make.

Here is my first blog-worthy creation. I started with this for $3.  Yes, what a splurge!

With a little spray paint..

And a helper (from a distance of course)

Next I threaded the jute through the little metal things that hold in the picture. And added this cute flower made out of ribbon!

And another flower/bow at the top.

It looked like this! So cute right?
And the final touches... A few photos!

If you can't tell I am proud of myself. Basically a can of spray paint and some hot glue, but a masterpiece in my mind! I suppose beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder/maker.

Up Up

 Monday, November 22, 2010

So now that Lily bug knows how to crawl, she has moved on to standing.  She stands on everything.  Pulls herself up on the coffee table, the end tables, the TV stand, the walls, the bath, me.  Seriously, everything.  Then she bangs her hands on whatever happens to be within reach.  Poor thing has had many head bonks when she loses her balance, but ever the trooper, she returns to the same perilous places and pulls herself back up.  She has even started letting go and balancing for a few seconds before toppling over or grabbing on for support.

And a cute shot of her little butt.  Ha ha its so funny when she crawls and her little diaper sticks out the back.

On another note, I am so excited for Thanksgiving!!! It is definitely my favorite holiday.  All my favorite foods come out around the holidays, especially the desserts.  I have already been watching The Food Network in preparation for the day that I cook the whole meal for my family!

I'm feeling a bit like rambling tonight, possibly because Adam has been studying 24/7 for the past three days, and I have barely spoken to anyone besides Lily.  However, tomorrow is Park Day, which I love.  Sunshine, little kids and other moms all getting out of the house and playing.  What could be better?

PS. I got a new phone and downloaded this app called "Unblock Me."  I think I have been playing it for two hours.  Perhaps I have an addictive personality and never knew it until this game came along.  If you don't have it, get it.

Ugly Face

 Sunday, November 14, 2010

So lately Lily has been making this really strange face.  We have taken to calling it the "ugly face" because it pretty much makes her look, well, ugly.  Ha ha ok nothing could make her look truly ugly in our eyes, but still not the most attractive way to gaze at people. Here is a decent shot of it, not the full on grimace, but a relatively good snapshot.

She does still have her cute smile! Here Lily is after church today. So cute.  By the way, I made those flowers on her head.  Yes me.  I am extremely proud of myself.  Ha ha kinda make her ears stick out, but I don't even care.  Too busy reveling in the fact that I am finally getting crafty.

Also, a shout out to cousin Ethan- Happy First Birthday!!!!!

Zootie Patootie

 Thursday, November 4, 2010

I got Lily some cute warmers and now that her legs are in a constant crawling motion she can really show them off! Here is just one pair my zootie rocks!

Now she actually isn't a big fan of crawling around yet, as demonstrated by her whines in the video, but I think once she gets the idea she'll learn to appreciate her new found mobility (and independence)!!!

Happy Halloween!

 Wednesday, November 3, 2010

Since it was Lily's first Halloween, we were hoping for a darling costume and tons of cute pictures.  well we got the costume part, but Lily did not cooperate with the picture part.  So here is what we got...

This was attempt number two at a costume! Adam's little Rebel girl (minus the creepy announcer voice)! She was much happier with this one.  Looking darling holding her pumpkin.

Adam and I didn't dress up this year, but look out for next year - we are already getting our creative juices flowing.  Hopefully Lily will appreciate all the effort when she is older!

Quick Trip

Back to Utah and Idaho for a few days...
My mom was in town and got to see her two cute grand babies!! She hadn't seen Lily in over five months, but Lily took to her right away.

Ethan and Lily were so playful with each other! Ethan even managed to share some of his toys.

Lily was reunited with her friend/cousin Dylan and "Grandpa Mac" Skip and Aunt Carol! She missed them a lot (So did her mom)!

Now, more pictures were taken, but they seem to have been with my mom and sister's cameras. If you want more, look at their blogs!

Darling

Look what my mom discovered in Lily's car seat...

Teeth! Ha ha just kidding - funny what babies can do with those Gerber Puffs besides eat them! Lily managed this somehow all by herself.

Birthday!

Well a few weeks ago it was my birthday, so we celebrated in Vegas with a little Japanese grill action.  I love LOVE the places where they cook your food in front of you and convinced everyone in Adam's family to come along for the fun.  We had an excellent chef and he made some funny jokes.  At first I thought he was going to be a lame-o, but he livened up and had us all entertained especially Justin.

All in all a very Happy Birthday!

Mobile

Lily has been hard at work getting two teeth and learning to crawl.  She prefers to sit and have toys brought to her, but is learning to roll, scoot and basically do whatever it takes to what she wants.  Namely, the DVD player. That said, the process doesn't come free of some uncomfortable positions.

Still, she makes the best of everything!

I Did Not Sign Up for This

 Friday, October 1, 2010

Warning: Graphic pictures.

Admittedly, there are times when Adam and I look at each other and say, "This is not what I signed up for."  While this makes us sound like bad parents, I have a feeling everyone says this at one point or another during parenthood.  Yesterday was one of those days.  First though, let me give you a rundown of the other times.

1. Night 2 in the hospital - Lily starts crying around seven at night.  She doesn't stop until four or five they next morning.  Nothing works until we beg for a binkie which the night nurse begrudgingly gives us.  Finally peace and sleep.  Until later that day...

2. Lily nursing all day.  Then all night.

3. Midnight.  Mom and Dad tired, Lily ready for action!

4. Finally, yesterday. I was happily doing my yoga while Lily was playing in her exer-saucer.  About halfway through, Lily gets fussy. Naturally I stop yoga and reach down and get her out.  Suddenly my whole arm is slimy, wet and a nasty smell assaults me. I look down and there is poo running down Lily's leg onto my arm.  So much. I look down and its all over the exer-saucer.  I panic, not sure whether or not to just throw her in the bathtub (but what about the diaper?).  I think, "I did not sign up for this."

Finally I got Lily cleaned up, got the bathroom cleaned up, got myself cleaned up.  Then I moved to the exer-saucer.  Where to start.  Luckily most of the poo ended up on the tags so I chopped them off. And got more poo on me.

As I am washing my hands yet again, I walk around the disaster area and everything smells like poop.  I scour the carpet for poo spots, but can't find/smell any.  But my arms still feel like they are covered.

Lily was so proud of herself.

Photo Story

 Tuesday, September 28, 2010

Here is a funny "photo story" of Lily.

I woke up with crazy hair.

Then Mom and Dad took me to a restaurant where I discovered this glass.  So, naturally I had to taste what was in it.

I needed a short break.

But soon I was ready for more, and Dad was slow giving me the glass. So I let him know to hurry it up.

I had another drink and was so content. Then I saw Mom's camera and wanted that. She wouldn't give it to me. I tried to get it anyway.

The End.

Half Birthday

Lily had her first half birthday a few days ago.  I can't believe she is already six months old. We went out to eat (surprise surprise) to celebrate and of course, Lily had a blast.  There was a huge table of people to our left and they were so taken with her giggling and chatting, we had to go over and show off Lily so they could talk to her. Perhaps its her new ability to shove two large toys in her mouth at the same time, while talking, and banging her hands, toys, whatever on the table that had them all so enthralled. Or maybe it was the funny/cute hat.

Or maybe its her improving table manners...

Either way, Happy Half Birthday to Lily!

Rage

 Saturday, September 11, 2010

I am worried about my daughter.  Lately she has been exhibiting signs of deep-set rage.  She pounds her little fists on anything and everyone.  She has nearly broken my keyboard, the piano, and my face.  I wonder where all this anger is coming from? Still very cute as she giggles immediately after her face was bent on destruction.

On another note.  Lily thinks the world revolves around her, which it does.  She believes all "fun" noises, such as alarm clock beeps, clapping, cell phones ringing, and cars honking are created solely for her listening pleasure.  She displays this with big grins and looks of joy whenever these noises occur.

Oh and she likes to sit by herself in shopping carts and high chairs now. Here she is deciding what to order for dinner.

Oops

I have been cutting Adam's hair lately.  Now remember, I am no pro and have only cut it once or twice before this.  Also, it was dark outside, my baby was screaming for me to come get her and I didn't really want to cut his hair at that time.  Still, he is, sadly, the one who got the short end of the stick.

Ha ha my husband now looks like a punk-rocker on one side and a conservative business man on the other.

You just might be a stay-at-home-mom when...

 Sunday, August 29, 2010

You have a "conversation" with your child and forget your husband is there listening.

Mine went something like this.

Me: "Lily here are some peas for you to try!"
Lily: In my voice, "But mom I've already had lots of pees today!"
Me: "Don't worry these are the peas you can eat, not the pees in your diaper!"
Adam: Laughs loudly
Me: Embarrassment
Lily: Blank stare, then a swan dive for the peas.
