Hairy Situation

 Tuesday, March 8, 2011

Lily's hair is getting longer, but it never seems to be long enough to do anything with so we have four options:

1. The sprinkler or Pebbles look

2. Pony Tail

That makes her look like a boy.

 3. Nothin, which also make her look like a cute little boy.

4. Or clippies.

Any way I choose, the real story is how bored I must be to write a blog entry about my daughter's hair style or lack thereof.

Little Miss Mess

 Tuesday, March 1, 2011

Now that Lily is walking everywhere, I find little messes all over the house.  For instance:

My make-up, brushes and combs, pens and water bottles in my dresser, her dresser, and the closets.

One morning as I was brushing my teeth, I heard a splat and saw..

Daddy's phone charger in the toilet.  Her face was so innocent (and pleased) I could only be a little mad. Now toilet seats are ALWAYS down and bathroom doors shut. We had been doing this for a little while but apparently not perfectly.

I am in need of a baby gate for the stairs, which Lily loves to climb up but has yet to master the down part.  Here is my current improvisation.

Not working so well anymore.  Off to Babies 'R' Us.

Lily loves Adam's gold clubs. Particularly his putter with the bright yellow grip.  She drags it around much to her dad's chagrin.

And yes, she always has something in her mouth.  Teething? I think so...

We sure love Lily and all her messes.

Rainy Day Fun

Adam's family came out to visit for the weekend and despite the rainy weather we had a good time! Lily entertained us all and when she was ready for a nap, we busted out the stroller, silly hat, and gloves from Grandma to brave the cold. They were a little big and Lily couldn't quite make out what they were doing on her hands...

There is this humongous tree in our neighborhood that is quite possibly one of the coolest things I have ever seen.  Every single time I walk by, I have to stop and look.  Its just one of those little moments where I feel like God's hand is truly in every aspect of the world.

We took a trip downtown to see Adam's office way up on the 46th floor.  Every twenty or so floors have an elevator, it goes so fast I kinda felt like I was taking off an airplane. 46 doesn't sound too high until you get up there and look down, at which point you realize the cars look like ants. Pretty neat.  He can see the ocean, the Hollywood sign and a few other landmarks from different corners of the building.

Lily riding along with Papa and Grandma Hales on the way to CPK for lunch.

Since it was All-Star Basketball Weekend the downtown area had some different activities going on.  We headed underneath the street for "Los Fearless." It was a two-on-two basketball tourament for "people?"  Ha ha I don't know who they were, but everyone was about two feet taller than me.

Lily loved having so many new toys, um people, around; she was nothing but smiles all day!

Late Love

 Friday, February 25, 2011

Even though Valentine's Day (or "Celebration of Life Day" in our house) has passed, I wanted to do a little post about love.  Here are a few things I love:

1. Thursdays. Why? Because Adam only has one more day of work and I get to dream about all the fun things we will do over the weekend together.

2. Lily when she wakes up from her nap.  She is so happy and silly.  Plus lately she has been waking up clapping.  Seriously. And her hair is all crazy.

3. Adam.  Even though he does a few things he thinks are funny, but that I find slightly annoying I love him!!!

4. Apartment searching. Strange I know. We still have one more year here in this great house, but I can't help looking at all the options we have in California when we move!

5. Top Chef.  Makes me want to go to cooking school every time I see an episode.

6. Sprout TV. Yes. Bad mother. I am trying to teach my daughter to watch TV so I can get something done.  Anything done! Lily doesn't love it.

7. The Village at downtown Claremont.  I walk up there all the time.  It is just so cutesy.

I love a lot more than that, but this will suffice for my love list!

Moves Her Body Like a Cyclone

 Friday, February 11, 2011

Lily has started dancing.  At least I think that is what she is doing.  We call it "getting low."  Here's why.

Yes. She has got the moves. Rhythm? We're working on it.

January

January flew by.  After our little Palm Springs hiatus, we got the sad news that Adam's Grandpa passed away.  So, we headed back up to Vegas and spent a few days for the funeral with family.  Glade was a great man and he will be missed.

After getting back to California we took a day trip down to Newport Beach and let Lily see the sand and ocean.  It was a little chilly, so we didn't go down to the water, but walked around Balboa and looked at fun shops and enjoyed the day!

Lily was tuckered out after all the walking and fun!

For those who don't know, Lily started walking right after Christmas and now is a pro! She walks everywhere and gets into everything! Her hair is getting so long - but not quite enough for a ponytail, so she basically looks like a ragamuffin 50% of the time.

On another happy note, Adam passed all his CPA tests (there were 4 miserable parts) so hooray for having him back in our lives and not spending all his time working and studying.
