New Niece

 Monday, June 27, 2011

My sister-in-law Nicole and her husband Mike had their first little baby a few weeks ago. Lily and I ended our trip to California with a stopover to see the new little one, named Ava!

Lily loved her.  At first she felt like this:

A little scared and nervous.

But soon she was very possessive of Ava and always wanted her.  She loved having the baby sitting on her lap and would give her loves and kisses.

If I held Ava, Lily had to help, or at least be close to see what was going on.  When Ava cried, Lily cried.  Cute, but a little bit loud...

Amazing how much difference one year makes in little babies!!!
Welcome Ava!

LA

Adam had a training in LA, so Lily and I drove out to spend the week in downtown Los Angeles! We had a good time hangin' at the hotel, walking around to see the sights and generally being lazy.  I finally got to try some of the restaurants Adam always talked about from around his office, so now I feel like part of the "in-crowd."

Here we are at Casa a pretty good Mexican place, Lily was a nightmare though and dumped a whole cup of ice water on me, so we didn't stay long to enjoy the atmosphere... And I gave up on the camera at food establishments.

Destroying the table and everything on it...

The downtown area around Adam's office, called California Plaza, has tons of water features. Lily loved them all!

We walked over to the Disney Music Hall and discovered a cool little park on top.  Lily ran around and saw all the sights.

While exploring, we found this gigantic rose with a little waterfall flowing through it.  As we walked around I saw a plaque with a little description.

Pretty neat! A rose for Lillian! So I took a few more photos of MY Lillian around HER rose. Ha ha.

As to be expected, Lily found every staircase and had to climb up each one.

And we had to do all these stairs twice! Good thing I love this little girl and had on walking shoes!

Adam's Day

When Father's Day rolled around, since we were all in our Sunday best, I decided to get a few family pics. Lily was sleep deprived and therefore, uncooperative in the smiling department, so this is the best we got from her.

With Papa and Grandma.

Papa, Daddy, Lily, Uncle Justin, and Grandma.  Lily looking off into the distance...

Daddy and Lily, again looking somewhere else.

Finally, a cheesy little grin from my baby!

Family photo.  With Lily looking depressed at her lot in life.

And typical little bug with snacks in one hand and a drink in the other.

Happy Father's day to all the dads in our lives!

Pool Party

Since we have hot weather and a great pool with a little wading area for Lily, we spend quite a bit of time at the pool. Lily's favorite thing to do is get in and out of the water. Or climb up on the chairs. Or put the broom in the pool. She is a nut.

Ha ha slightly embarrassing, but we do have fun in water!

Here she is proudly holding her little floatie.

And don't worry, I slather her little body with SPF - no sunburns allowed on my little bug!

The Move

 Tuesday, June 7, 2011

Aside from the fact that we have officially moved to Vegas and are in the process of looking for a house, this post has very little to do with the move and more to do with Lily.  Go figure.

While we look for that elusive house (for those reading in the Vegas area, suggestions are appreciated), we are staying with Bob and Gaylynn.  Lily is having a blast.  I am tired from chasing her all over the place, but happy she gets to spend so much time with her grandparents! She is even becoming best buds with her "Papa" aka Grandpa Bob.  She has always loved Grandma...

Since it has been a long time since my last post, here is a rundown of Lily bug's accomplishments:
1. She can now dip a french fry in ketchup or whatever sauce is handy and eat it.  In fact, she can do this with all sorts of foods...
2. She can say puppy, mama, dada, baby, tickle, thank you, hi and bye. She adds new words a lot too but most I can't understand yet.
3. She runs everywhere.  Too fast and crashes into the floor.
4. She knows a cow says "Moo" and will make the noise!
5. She wakes up at 5:30 in the morning.  Why? I don't know, but change is coming Lily be warned...
6. Many more, but I can't remember so I'll add them later.

Lily has found "toys" all over Grandma's house.  Here is a horse.

And we can't forget the stairs! Always a favorite.

Any box is designed specifically for Lily to stand on.

Cheese! By the way, I bought a bunch of new clips for Lily's wild hair.  Love them. So now she will hopefully not look like an abandoned child in pictures.
